Who we support

We deliver person-centred care for disabled adults, respecting each individual’s personal preferences and wishes.

The people currently living at Quantock House are ambulant. The building is mostly wheelchair accessible but would not suit powerchair users. However, it does meet the needs and preferences of everyone living here.

We currently support people with a range of conditions, including but not limited to:

  • various learning disabilities including Downs Syndrome
  • cerebral palsy
  • epilepsy
  • autism
  • ADHD

What support we provide

Our committed and friendly staff help everyone with all forms of personal care. Everyone has their own person-centred plan (PCP) and their own communication passports. We support people to do the things they like to do. We support people to boost their independent living skills. People might learn about food preparation and cooking or dealing with letters and post – whatever people feel is useful to them.

What activities are available

We have good transport links. Residents enjoy using public transport to travel to activities, so they are encouraged to continue this to boost their independence. We also have wheelchair-accessible minibuses shared between Birnbeck and Quantock.

People at Quantock enjoy a variety of individual activities: some people love going swimming, others love visits to their allotment.

Residents love trips to the seaside, with its arcades and Grand Pier. Residents also enjoy going to the bowling alley, as well as to shops and restaurants nearby restaurants. They often want to go for coffee in the local park. They love attending a weekly social club and the Proud Bar - a nightclub for people with learning disabilities.

Residents can also take part in a range of in-house activities for both individuals and groups.
